MURO DI CA’ DEL POGGIO, A VERTICAL SHOW
In San Pietro di Feletto the symbolic climb of the land of Prosecco
The Wall of Ca’ del Poggio is located in San Pietro di Feletto, in the Treviso area, halfway between Venice and the Dolomites. It is considered the symbolic climb of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene which were recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on 7 July 2019.
It is a 1.1 km long climb, entirely asphalted, with an average gradient of 12.7% and peaks of 19%. The difference in altitude is 140 meters (from 102 to 242 meters above sea level).
Since 2016 the Ca’ del Poggio Wall has been twinned with the Grammont Wall, the legendary climb of the Tour of Flanders, and since 2018 the partnership has expanded to the Mûr-de-Bretagne, another famous climb that has made cycling history international.
The Giro d’Italia has passed over the Ca’ del Poggio Wall – the only climb certified by the Italian Cycling Federation – seven times: in 2009, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2020, 2022 and 2024, when, on the occasion of the Alpago- Bassano del Grappa, around 15 thousand people witnessed the passage of cyclists on the ascent of San Pietro di Feletto.
The next appointments with the Giro d’Italia are already defined: 25 May 2025, on the occasion of the Fiume Veneto-Asiago stage, 15th stage of the 108th edition of the Corsa Rosa.
9 July 2025, Giro d’Italia Women 4th stage Castello Tesino – Pianezze (Valdobbiadene).
The Giro d’Italia, but in the version reserved for under 23s, passed over the Wall on 16 June 2018, when the ascent of San Pietro di Feletto was the protagonist of an unprecedented challenge against time in “Real time” which the prestigious youth event concluded and returned to the Wall in 2021.
The San Pietro di Feletto climb also hosted the 2010 Italian Professional Championship, which took place over 11 rounds on the Wall. In 2012 and 2015 it was the venue for the Giro Rosa and was the setting for the Gravel World Championship, held in the Marca on 7 and 8 October 2023.
Various cycling trials which, during the year, include a passage on the Ca’ del Poggio Wall. Any examples? The international youth races of San Vendemiano, San Michele di Feletto and Solighetto, together with two editions of the Veneto Classic (2021 and 2022) and leading events for amateur enthusiasts such as Prosecco Cycling and Nova Eroica Prosecco Hills.
On 5 September 2019, the Wall of Ca’ del Poggio was also the protagonist of the short film “Non so come, ma è successo” (I don’t know how, but it happened) by director Nazareno Balani, which, on the occasion of the 76th Venice Film Festival, was awarded the prestigious Leone of Glass.
